Thank You Olivia...

...for getting married. It has become a great reason for all of the family to gather (minus a few, of course)! I can't remember the last time we had a real reunion and I am really looking forward to it. This "thank you" note should also be addressed to Mark and Sandy for getting it going and providing the cabin and to the CA brothers who will be making the trek that will make it possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A Year and Three Months Left!

This picture was taken on the day Sean graduated. Bet'cha couldn'ta guessed it was him! I really miss this boy.

Lately, Calvin has been trying to take over ALL the responsibilities that Sean has left undone. Calvin doesn't have to do that. Calvin is a really good Calvin. Sean is a really good Sean. I absolutely love them both. Soon, I'm not going to have either one of them!

By the way, we got an e-mail from Sean because a WONDERFUL member offered to type while he dictated. The WONDERFUL lady's name is Wendy Engel. If you want to read it, click on the link to his blog (the link says "Elder Juarez" on the links bar at the top-right corner of this page) or you could go up to the address bar and type "eldersean.blogspot.com". I love Sean so much I can't even write it in words. I can't wait til he gets home. I'm so grateful he went on a Misson. His letter is amazing and I hope, no, READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maya

Hectic (And Fun) Week

This has been quite a hectic week. With Josie and Carmen gone to girls camp things haven't been normal.
Monday: Josie left early for camp since she's a fifth year. Carmen, Ashton and I stayed around the house.
Tuesday: I actually sleep in! Yes, it's true till 10:30 am! Ashton and I did our chores then played a little Nintendo then we rode our bikes to Mom's work then load up our swimming bags with treats then go to the pool across the street from her work. Drive home. Eat. Mom, Olivia and I go to Amie's house to work on Olivia's wedding announcement. I sleep over at Amie's.
Wednesday: Wake up and eat. Then I go with Amie and the kids to Radio Shack, Costco, The bank, and... THANKSGIVING POINT!!!!! That was so fun. We get back to Amie's home. We watched a movie and baked bread and made cookies. Then on his way home from work Papa picks me up.
Thursday: Nice morning with Ashton. Then the pool again. Then we rode the bikes home which were still at Mom's work.
Friday (Today): Wake up and see Mom HOME! Fun morning. Then Papa comes and picks us up drops Mom at work and me Ashton and Papa drive to 123 R Street S.L.C. Sandy's home. We eat lunch and then go to the Gateway to see a movie (Kung Fu Panda) and go to Barnes and Noble bookstore. Then meet back up with Papa at his work and then drive home.
WOW! Such a crazy week. Tomorrow I get to see Josie and Carmen who get home!
That's all for now.
Loves,
Maya

Everyone Loves a Parade

Don't you just love the Fourth of July? We had our annual bike parade this morning and it was very cute!

HAPPY 4TH!!

It's nap-time on the holiday, & I'm taking advantage to catch-up with the Ords! So glad to see Sandy made it here. It reminded me that I wanted to post MY Ord connection from a few weeks ago...

It was during a weekend road trip I took with Ben's parents, his sister, her husband & their baby. We traveled to Phoenix to celebrate the blessing day of his other sister's baby, and the med. school graduation of that new baby's dad! The weekend was packed with events, so it wasn't really a sight-seeing trip, but it was fun to be with his family. Not to mention, we were staying in a mansion. Or an estate, almost. We stayed with Ben's charming uncle Paul, a lawyer in Pheonix. It was quite a treat to enjoy their new "Cielo Azul" big big home especially catered to grandchildren. There was a fun pool out back, a putting green, a giant chess set, a play room complete with the Wii, a gym (not-so-much for the grandkids), and much more. But a favorite moment was finding an ORD connection!

Paul's daughter was at Girls' Camp, so on Saturday, her husband & kids came for breakfast. The husband's name is Mike Ord. I told him I was an Ord, too & he asked if it traced back to Thomas. I finished his sentence & said, "Yeah, and Eleanore?" "Yes!!"

I mentioned it to Mom, who knew right where he would have decended. Mike has a brother that played football for BYU--Mom says Grandpa knows how that one is related. (Tid-bit: Paul told us that Mike actually received a scholarship to play football at Harvard or somewhere & when he told them he'd be taking a 2-year religious break, they said no!)

Anyway... love to you all from Provo! Thanks to Grandpa for joining us at the Grand Parade! Glad you got to check it off your "Bucketlist!"

If you can turn right, how come you can't turn left

Today on the ride home from Macey's grocery store, Ashton turned and whispered "Maya, Papa just turned right on a red light." I reassured him that it was okay when turning right at a red light. Then he asked "If you can turn right on a red, how come you have to wait to turn left" I laughed to myself and then said to him "Think about it, if you turn left you will most likely get hit by a car. If you turn right you're okay." "Oh," then he went back to making his airplane noises. I love this kid to death.
That's all for now.

Maya

9 month milestone today!

Just in case it's been a while since you've had a chance to click on the Elder Sean blog... Here's what I posted today.
"We miss you badly, Elder Sean-Boy... but we're pleased beyond measure with the joy you've found in serving.
This picture was taken a week ago at CJ's baptism, and sent to us by email from precious Wendy Engle of Mount Vernon, WA ("Foster" Mom to CJ, fairly recent convert, friend and caretaker of the Elders).
Bless you WENDY!
Carry on, carry on, carry ON!"

Let's See If It Works...

I'm going to try to post a picture today. This happend last April.
It was a beautiful Saterday morning. Our family was fixing up our garden to look pretty. Earlier that morning Olivia told me about her friend who put on a grow show. There were seed in each packet (look at packets in backround). Olivia wanted to take me to get some seeds.

For more details go to Olivia's blog. The title of the post is " In Provo There's a GROW Show".

Sandy goes Techno-Savvy!

Testing, one...two...three...Hello all you bloggers out there! Thanks to Tyler, I finally figured out how to do this!
So the other night, Karli was hanging out with a girl named Jenn from East High. She'd done things a few other times before with her and had commented to me about how much they had in common & how much she liked her. The other night Jenn mentioned that her mom was from California. Karli says, " So is mine, where's yours from?" "Near San Francisco". "So 's mine", Karli says. Jenn says "Palo Alto", Karli says, "Mine too! Well, actually Menlo Park." Jenn says, "So's mine! My grandma actually still lives there!" Karli asks her what her mom's name is. Next thing I know, Karli's on the phone and asks, "Did you know a girl named Rebecca Soelberg?"How bizarre is that? (You kids that are reading this, we grew up with Rebecca Soelberg)

One more thing: I wanted to make sure everyone knows they're invited to the cabin during the time between Olivia's wedding on Aug 5th and the Sargeant reunion on the 9th. We figured we might as well try to have a little Ord family reunion while we're at it!

In Answer to Your Question...

For Aunt Sue:
My summer has been amazing! The first two weeks of summer, Ashton, Carmen, and I took swim lessons. The third week I did nothing. The fourth week of summer I went to a week long camp called "Camp Big Springs". Last week I did nothing. I baby-sit Ashton in the mornings and do not get paid! What a rip off! Ha ha ha! That's okay my parents don't have to pay me, I do it out of the goodness of my heart.Every morning I wake up and find Ashton on the Nintendo. I have to get him off after the "last round". Ha ha ha. Chore time! While he clears the table and puts away the utensils, I unload, load, and then start the dishwasher. By the time all that is over, Josie and Carmen are home (from Color Guard) and their doing their chores. Josie hopes we are all in a good mood so she can take us to cool places in Provo. In answer to your question my summer has been going GREAT!!
